The Spotlight on Careers series is aimed at enhancing employability and showcasing career options within Physics and Astronomy.

It includes advice and useful information from the Careers and Employability Service, employers and industry experts. The series features insightful presentations, lunch refreshment and networking opportunities.

The event is hosted by the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the Careers and Employability Service and the South East Physics Network (SEPnet).

The aims of the talks are to help provide food for thought on careers and provide some tips for success. At the very least it will be a chance to network and share a slice of pizza.

David Faulkner is our speaker on the 11th with an enviable position in Dassault Systems: https://www.3ds.com/en-uk/. Having studied physics himself at Southampton a few years ago, he will tell us the story of how he was unsure where he saw his career path heading during and indeed at the end of his degree. The end result saw him securing a jet-set lifestyle and an interesting role in Dassault.

We also have with us Rob Wood from the Careers and Employability Service, who will add his take on possible career options for physics gradudates - setting the scene and providing ample food for thought.

Lunchtime food and refreshments will be provided for the session. Whatever stage in your journey that you find yourselves - whether you have just started your degree course or at the end of your PhD – all are very welcome to attend.
